  • The Client- The NHS

The National Heath Service (NHS) work to help improve the physical health and wellbeing of people when they feel ill, providing medical treatment and care.

They were first established after World War 2

The purpose of the NHS is to save lives by providing treatment and health care to the UK without having them to pay for it, however they are primarily funded by taxes. As a result this makes it easier for people to receive healthcare when most needed and unexpected.

The NHS offer many services such as appointments with GP's, medical prescriptions, hospital appointments, mental health plans, student medical plans, healthcare support for the armed forces, online services

The NHS can also offer many other services to help improve your health and wellbeing by offering dental service and supporting opticians, both of which are free due to them being funded by the NHS. This helps give people medical care for free which helps people get care and treatment without paying high prices for treatment

Previous Client Campaigns

The NHS has previously been involved in a variety of campaigns. For example they made the change for life campaign, which has now joined better health, which was mostly targeted towards a younger audience. The change for life campaign promoted eating healthy food, less sugary/ unhealthy snacks and having a healthy balanced diet. It did this by exaggerating the amount of sugar and fat in sugary foods. This was done in order to shock the younger audience to persuade them to eat more fruit and healthier foods.

The NHS also made lots of health campaigns during the Covid-19 pandemic to help improve better hygiene to prevent spread of the virus. These campaigns were targeted at people all ages. They made the phrase "stay at home, protect the NHS, save lives". This was to persuade people to stay indoors during the lock-down to prevent the spread of the virus so many lives could be saved. They also wanted to encourage people to thoroughly wash hands to wash away the virus, wear a face mask to prevent the virus being spread through the air, and social distancing to avoid direct contact. This would help decrease the number in deaths from Covid.

The NHS also helped produce the better health campaign. This was mainly targeted towards an older audience. This was made to promote the bad effects of smoking to shock the audience to make them want to quit. They also promote a healthy diet and lifestyle. They do this through showing older people doing exercise and eating healthy foods. The 4 main things they promote is
: -Lose weight     -Drink less
 -Get active   -Quit smoking

 lose weight-
To help people lose weight, Change4life set up a free NHS weight loss plan app. This was a plan broke down into 12 weeks. People would make healthy meal plans, watch calorie intake, become fit and active and control your activity progress as well

 Drink less-
The drink free days app was introduced so people could track their drink free days. It give tips to control drinking as well as setting reminders of when you need it the most. It also allows you to celebrate milestones which helped to give people a big confidence boost.

 Get active-
In order to encourage people to do exercise daily, they introduced 2 apps. -The couch to 5K app helped people start running by tracking daily runs, run with 5 trainers to help your motivation this app helped 4 million people start running. There's also the Active 10 app which tracks your daily steps, set goals and show achievements. This helped to encourage people to keep active and moving.

Quit Smoking-
They wanted people to give up smoking so people have healthier lungs so they can breathe better. They do this by introducing Stoptober which is a campaign to get people to quit smoking throughout the month of October to get them to quit for good.

This coca cola TV add uses mainly lots of full and medium POV shots to show the 2 peoples lifestyles side by side. One being healthy and one being unhealthy. Showing a guy eating healthy food and being active and one eating unhealthy and using transport to get to work. It also uses lots of insert shots to draw the viewers attention to the food that the 2 men are eating. This is done multiple times to exaggerate one is eating healthy food and one is eating unhealthy food. It also switches to a medium close up while there eating so we can see clearly the healthy vs unhealthy option.

It focuses on using eye level angles to show the lifestyle the 2 people have. One is active and one is lazy. This shows what you can do to be more active like riding a bike to work instead of sitting in the car. There also is overhead shots of the food to show what they eat. This therefore teaches the audience what a healthy lifestyle looks like and what a unhealthy lifestyle looks like. By observing this can then let the audience adapt there lifestyle to a more healthy one.

This is one of the previous better health campaigns for promoting being more active. the first and most important thing to note is that it features an old person. This tells us that this advert is targeted at an older audience as they want older people to get moving and being more active. it uses a simple design by only using 1 colour being blue. this is very simple but effective so you can see the text. but only using 1 colour makes it a bit plain so i would change this in my ad.  also the text is lined up around the character so it stands out.

With my add i will take inspiration from this but wont make it the same. I will use 2 or 3 different colours to help it pop out and stand out more so it catches the audiences eye so they want to take notice. I like the idea of putting the text around the character as it stands out more so i might use this idea for my print advert. also my advert is aimed at young adults aged 16-20 years old so my advert will feature young people rather than old people.

this is another previous NHS campaigns and this one is promoting a healthier lifestyle. Like the other one i also think that this advert is too plain as it only uses one colour as the main colour scheme so therefore its too vague and simple and i don't think it would retain the audiences attention. It needs 2 or 3 colours at least. obviously you don't want it to be too detailed as it will be too much and the audience wont be able to process what is being advertised and they will just ignore it. On the other hand i can see why they went with a simple design as its targeted for an old audience so it makes sense to not over complicate things and to keep it simple and plain so they understand the message. But my print advert is aimed for a young audience instead of an old audience so therefore i am going to make mine a bit more detailed to get the audiences attention so they want to pay attention to it. ill use 2 or 3 colours so it stands out but i'm also going to keep the background as the setting i take the shot in
