experimenting with these shots helped me practice with different camera angles which I didn't use in my college promotional video from the induction brief. it helped me practice and experiment with various camera angles, shot types. by learning these skills, it will help me improve my shots and camera skills in upcoming future projects
Induction Brief
through doing this project, I learned how to use the cameras and tripod for the very first time. this was very much a trial and error experience. lots of things learned and lots of mistakes made. i learned from those mistakes which helped me improve my work and become more experienced at filming and taking shots.
i also learned how to use Adobe Premier Pro for the first time. although i have used video editing software in the past such as I movie and Capcut, this was similar, but I learned more advanced video editing techniques.
I started by renaming all my video files after recording so I knew which was which. I did this by labeling the type of shot and who was in the shot.
I then decided to arrange my shots in order on the timeline of what order the shots were going to be.
I then watched all the shots and used the razor tool to get rid of the few seconds where the shot dragged on a bit extra at the end or took a while to start. This is so all the clips seamlessly go together and transition from one to the next so when its all edited together there's no jumpiness and it all flows together chronologically.
I added 3 different copyright free music tracks. At first I was only going to use 1 track but I discovered it didn’t fit the theme throughout, just at the start. Then when we were both standing with a face to face close up I added an even more intense bit of music to make it more suspenseful. Then when we were both lying on the floor dead I added a sad tone of music after to show the battle is over. I added foley sounds for the gunshots and cut to black to increase suspense so you don’t know what has happened which keeps the viewer in suspense,
I also added transitions before I blacked out the screen to show a change in mood of the scene. To change from an intense to an extremely suspenseful atmosphere
We decided to shoot at the back of the college between the arts and sports building to give it a sketchy back allay vibe where a 1 to one confrontation would take place. Also its isolated which made it easier to do.it perfectly set the scene for the shoot. We also intended for both shooters to be killed which made it more dramatic
Before producing my product, i had to prepare where i was filming, who i was filming with and what equipment id need to bring with me on shooting day. I Also had to outline any risks that could occur on set and find ways i could prevent them if they were to happen. This was to make sure i was prepared for any problems that i could run into during filming. I also had to get permissions from the owners of the land so they were aware i was going to film on their property and so i could get their permission to publish any content that would be filmed on their property. these are legal documents that would need to be filled in before i go onto production. I created a contributor release form to get permissions from the owners of the land of Seaburn beach in order to get consent to take shots on the land to use for my campaign. This form also gave me permission to publicly publish any shots i take on the land. This also gives me the copyrights to the property so i therefore have the rig...
Logistical detail Once i got permissions from the owners of the land of Seaburn beach on the 25th February, i went down to the facility one day later to film on Sunday 26th February. This was a most suitable date with it being on the weekend since i was free to film. I decided to film on The nighttime as that was the setting in which i planned my shot. I wanted to wait until the moon just starting to rise as for one of my shots i wanted the moon to just be reflecting off the land so there was a shine and glisten from the sea which would lighten up the scenery and make the poster interesting to look at. I didn't need to organise travel as it was just a ten minute walk away from my home. I made sure i came prepared for filming days by making note of what equipment i needed to bring with me on the day of shooting. The only eqquipment I needed was my phone to take the images with. This is because it is small and convenient for the occasion. Also I am using an iPhone 11 ...
During production i took plenty of different shots to try to get my initial ideas to work as well as trying to experiment with new ideas. I used different angles and lighting techniques to see which shot would work best and which shots wouldn't work. Orginisation Since i took the shots on my phone and not on a camera i thought it would be best to store them on my phone. I organised my images by creating a folder on my phone to keep all the images for the project safe stored in one place. This was so they wouldn't get mixed up with my other photos that weren't shots for the project. Raw footage This is some footage that i took on filming day. These 2 shots are the ones i wanted to use for my Print advert because i thought they were very detailed and would help grasp my audiences attention to the advert as it is a very well lit image with good lighting. The vibrant range of colours in the sea and the sky light up the atmosphere very well and make it look very appealing to th...
